Constitutional lawyer, Mike Ozekhome SAN has said that the Department of State Services (DSS) released actor Chiwetalu Agu after a rigorous search of his phones turned up nothing incriminating.
He stated this in a Tuesday statement after the actor’s release by the secret police in Abuja, which was confirmed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) through its spokesperson, Monalisa Chinda Coker.
Recall that soldiers arrested Agu last Thursday in Anambra State for allegedly wearing Biafran colours, associating with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, and for inciting members of the public.

The Nigerian Army on Friday handed him over to the DSS, which flew him to its headquarters in Abuja and detained him until Tuesday.
In his statement, Ozekhome said his chambers took up Agu’s case after a briefing from the AGN.
He disclosed that Agu told the DSS that he committed no offence as he was merely wearing an attire with the rising sun and distributing ten thousand naira worth of bread he had bought, to the poor and less-privileged at the time of his arrest.
Ozekhome said that DSS operatives which the chambers interacted with in the course of Agu’s case were very civil and very cooperative.
“Agu was released this (Tuesday) evening to Steve Eboh and Monolisa Chinda (Director of Media, Actors Guild of Nigeria), by the DSS at their headquarters in Abuja, after a careful search on his phones showed nothing incriminating,” the senior lawyer said.
