Hunter Biden’s associates reveal his role in plot to unfreeze $30bn Libyan assets

2 Min Read

Two emails between two associates of Hunter Biden have revealed that he offered to use his connections to help unfreeze $30 billion Libyan assets frozen by the Barack Obama administration.

For this, one of the emails reveals, the younger Biden asked to be paid $2 million plus “success fees”, Business Insider reported.

The emails dating back to 2015 and 2016 were exchanged by mid-level Democratic Party donors Sam Jauhari and Sheikh Mohammed al-Rahbani, who were both working at the time to help the new Libyan government unfreeze national assets held by Muammar Qaddafi (MQ) and the Libya Investment Authority (LIA) abroad.

The first email dated January 28, 2015 was sent by Jauhari to al-Rahbani.

In the email, Jauhari outlined how Hunter Biden could help with their efforts leveraging his role as Chairman of the UN World Food Program, and his relationship with his then Vice-President father and then-Secretary of State John Kerry.

“Since he travels with dad he is connected everywhere in Europe and Asia where M. Q. [Muammar Qaddafi] and LIA [Libya Investment Authority] had money frozen,” Jauhari writes, adding that Hunter has also said he has high level access in China, and that, “he can help there.”

It was reported that China was blocking the release of $15 billion of Qaddafi’s funds that Obama had ordered frozen.

Jauhari however warned his associate about Hunter Biden’s downsides – alcoholism and drug use.

“His negatives are that he is alcoholic, drug addict – kicked [out] of U.S. Army for cocaine, chasing low class hookers, constantly needs money-liquidity problems and many more headaches,” Jauhari wrote.

The second email dated February 26, 2016 showed that Hunter Biden was still involved in the efforts to unfreeze the Libyan assets.
