Chelsea‘s coach Jose Mourinho assures that Spanish striker Fernando Torres will not be leaving Stamford bridge, insisting he needs three strikers in his squad.
Despite Torres warming the bench in Chelsea’s victory over Leicester on Saturday, Jose Mourinho assures that the 50 million euros striker still has a part to play in the squad.
“I want three strikers in the team. Sometimes I want to play with two and have one on the bench. At other times, someone will be suspended, another will be injured,” said Mourinho.
30-year-old Fernando Torres reportedly turned down the chance to move to AS Roma and AC Milan, choosing to remain at Chelsea. Both Italian clubs have made inquiries about Torres, but the striker is not keen on moving to Italy.
Expressing his confidence in the Spaniard, Mourinho said “I believe he will remain. I want him. He will play. He will score goals. He will be very useful for us. He is a fantastic guy, fantastic professional, so no problem.”
Saturday’s game saw Diego costa who have score two goals in two games in the first line-up and Didier Drogba coming on in the 79th minute to play his first competitive game for Chelsea after leaving in 2012
