Nnamdi Kanu’s trial: IPOB members arrested in Abuja

2 Min Read

Some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have been arrested close to the Federal High Court, Abuja where the group’s leader, Nnamdi Kanu is expected to continue his trial on Monday.

Many IPOB members that converged outside the premises had tried to gain access to the court to witness the trial but were confronted by security agents and later dispersed.

Having failed to gain entrance to the court, the IPOB members then scattered along the road leading to the court and began to sing solidarity songs and grant media interviews.

“We are not afraid. We are behind Nnamdi Kanu.

“Whatever they want to do to us, let them do it. We have come here to witness and support our leader Mazi Kanu.

“We are behind him in the morning, afternoon and night. God almighty is solidly behind us. We are not afraid of anybody.
“Nothing will happen to Kanu. Since they could not kill him in Kenya, they cannot kill him in Nigeria. They must release him.

“We are worshiping a living God and he will facilitate Kanu’s release,” one of the supporters said.

However, a policeman approached the supporters and ordered them to leave the roadside where they had converged, a video circulating on social media shows.

As the supporters did not budge, the policeman cocked his gun and threatened to shoot them.

Shortly after, some of the supporters were spotted inside police vans beside the court, indicating that they had been arrested.
