The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets have Modu Sulum, a top commander of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) that participated in the killing of Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Sulum was reportedly hit alongside dozens of other ISWAP terrorists in Lamboa, Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday.

The military airstrikes were conducted by NAF Alpha-Jets, L-39 and MI-35 helicopters, PR Nigeria reported.

Sulum is said to have orchestrated attacks on power transmission towers at Malanari along Maiduguri-Damaturu Highway and on travellers in Auno and Jakana.

PR Nigeria quoted the NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet as saying that a NAF reconnaissance platform sighted the insurgents in a convoy of eight gun trucks.
