Fourteen bandits that attacked a police station in Benue State have met an unpleasant end, the state police command has said.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesman, Kate Anene, the incident occurred on Sunday morning in Katsina-Ala town.
The police spokesperson said that some suspected bandits were on Saturday arrested and detained at the Katsina-Ala Divisional Headquarters.

Anene added that around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, armed bandits numbering about 50 launched a daring attack on the station in a bid to free their comrades from custody.
The police spokesperson said that operatives at the division who were already on alert engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle.
At the end of the duel, Anene said, 14 of the attackers were gunned down and many others escaped with bullet wounds.
The PPRO urged the good people of Katsina-Ala to keep calm and assist the police with useful information.
