The Northern Governors’ Forum has congratulated the former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, on his 79th birthday.

The Chairman of the forum and governor of Plateau, Mr. Simon Lalong felicitated the former military leader, in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs Dr. Makut Macham, on Monday in Jos.

He described him as a patriotic Nigerian, who has been consistent in working for the unity, peace, and progress of the country.

He noted that in addition of serving the nation meritoriously during his military career, he was instrumental in the transition to Nigeria’s democracy, by handing over power to an elected President and ending the long years of military rule.
