A protest against bad governance, insecurity and poverty has kicked off at the Mokola roundabout in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The peaceful June 12 protest saw residents, who are mostly youths, chanting solidarity songs while a few bore placards with various inscriptions demanding an end to bad governance.
Some of the inscriptions read: ‘End impunity in Nigeria’, ‘No to fuel price hike’, and ‘We are tired of the killings’.
Security agents including police, army, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) are also on ground to maintain law and order.
The Herald earlier reported that police fired tear gas at a similar protest holding in Lagos and Abuja.
During the Lagos June 12 protest, there was also heavy fire of gunshots to scare off protesters as police personnel barricaded the Gani Fawehinmi Park, the venue of the protest.
