2 Min Read

A soldier has been nabbed by a team of Department of State Services (DSS) operatives in Ekiti State after he fatally stabbed their colleague.

The Herald learnt that the incident occurred at the popular KSSD Hotel located at NTA road in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Friday evening.

The soldier was said to have accosted a suspected internet fraudster aka “Yahoo boy” on the premises of the hotel and began to question him.

The suspected Yahoo boy was said to have frantically scanned around for a familiar face that could rescue him from the soldier and sighted the victim, who happened to be a DSS operative.

The DSS operative’s attempt to intervene in the matter was said to have incensed the soldier, who brought out a knife and stabbed him.

The DSS operative was said to have been rushed to a state hospital but died as a result of the stab wound.

Shortly after the stabbing, DSS operatives reportedly swarmed into the hotel premises and whisked the killer soldier away.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, ASP Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident.

He said that the victim was kicked during an argument, adding that the matter was under police investigation.

“We heard that the DSS operative was killed during an hot argument with some soldiers yesterday evening.

“The deceased’s corpse had been deposited in the morgue. The perpetrators of the murder had been arrested.

“Let me also add that our detectives have started investigation and we will get to the root of the matter,” Daily Independent quoted Abutu as saying on Saturday.
