Three soldiers have died and one driver severely injured in a crash involving the family of Mohammed Babangida, the son of former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida.
The younger Babangida’s family was said to be travelling in a Honda space bus while their escorts travelled in a black Toyota Land Cruiser SUV at the time of the crash, SaharaReporters reported.
The Tuesday crash was said to have occurred on the Minna-Suleja Highway in Niger State as the convoy journeyed from the state to Abuja.

A witness said that no member of the the family was hurt in the crash, which occurred as the SUV had a head-on collision with a truck conveying tomatoes.
“Three soldiers died and one was left critically injured as the convoy of Mohammed Babangida, the son of the former military Head of State was involved in the accident. He was travelling to Abuja in a Honda Space bus with other members of his family behind the security vehicle.
“No member of the Babangida family was hurt in the accident. The injured soldier is currently receiving treatment at the National Hospital in Abuja,” the witness said.
Neither the Niger State Police Command nor the Nigerian Army, whose personnel reportedly died, has confirmed the incident.
