The Senator for Lagos Central, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has incurred the wrath of some Nigerians after her altercation with a group of persons at the South-West zonal public hearing of the Constitution Review on Wednesday.

In a video shared by TheCable, Tinubu, who is leading the Senate Committee on Review of the 1999 Constitution in the zone, can be seen engaging in a verbal altercation with some would-be participants.

The event held at Marriot Hotel, Lagos.

It was gathered that some would-be participants had gathered at the registration point for the event since registration was a condition for admittance.

It was said that the front door where the would-be participants would have been admitted was shut and registration closed after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu entered the venue through the back door.

This did not sit down well with those that were already on the queue for registration as they complained loudly about their exclusion from the event.

Things were said to have taken an interesting turn when some lawmakers from Oyo State got to the venue, walked past the queue and were about to be ushered into the programme through the back door.

The lawmakers were however followed by some people from the front-door queue who insisted on being admitted into the venue like the lawmakers.

A woman reportedly complained about being denied entry and decried the partial treatment.

This was said to have led to a commotion that drew Tinubu’s attention.

Tinubu, who noticed the woman, beckoned on her and two others to come closer and reprimanded the woman for behaving like a “thug” for speaking too loud.

Those that heard the senator faulted her choice of words and demanded an apology.

However, Tinubu insisted that she would not apologise.

“I will not apologise for what I said. I saw it and I said it,” TheCable quoted her to have said.

Taking to Facebook, Victoria Chamberlain Nnakire wrote, “We don’t blame them. Let them be insulting us on our collective wealth they are squandering. GOD is watching and will judge one day.”

Sam Adebayo wrote, “Without iota of doubt these people are not leading by example most especially Mrs Remi Tinubu. When you know that you don’t want the people to come in they shouldn’t have been invited in the first place.”

Frederick Otobo wrote, “If the pot calls the kettle black, what is the offence? Tinubu’s wife is a professional thug. Well known!”

Suleman Audu wrote, “Third term senator, you don’t have respect for other married women like you. That’s terrible.”

Mocking Tinubu, Onyekachi Okonkwo wrote, “An aspiring first lady of the Federal Republic, a pastor of RCCG and a Senator of the Federal Republic”.
