Emeritus Professor of History, Prof. Banji Akintoye says the agitation for a Yoruba nation will not stop despite opposition from your influential persons.

Akintoye, who is the Leader of Ilana Omo Odua, stated this on Sunday in a statement signed by the group’s spokesman, Maxwell Adeleye.

Recall that Yoruba agitators had stormed Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Saturday to continue their agitation despite a police order.

Akintoye hailed the group behind Saturday’s rally, Yoruba Nimi Omo Kootu-Ojire, and its Founder, Titilayo Ojeleye for the successful rally.

“I want to advise the Nigerian State that the Yoruba self-determination struggle under my leadership shall continue to be peaceful and orderly.

“Therefore, threatening us, or attempting to subjugate our rights to self-determination and peaceful assembly are cowardly.

“We are marching on, and like valiant soldiers without a dint of fear. I make bold to put it to the Nigerian state that no one can stop an idea whose time has come,” the statement read in part.

Akintoye advised well-meaning Yoruba sons and daughters to hold rallies every weekend in their various locations to press home the demand.
