Tottenham Hotspur have sacked manager, Jose Mourinho alongside his coaching staff comprising Joao Sacramento, Nuno Santos, Carlos Lalin and Giovanni Cerra.

The Portuguese tactician, 58, was sacked on Monday morning after a meeting with club chairman, Daniel Levy, over unsatisfactory results, Sky Sports reported.

He had been appointed in November 2019 as replacement for Mauricio Pochettino, in a four-year deal.

Ryan Mason, 29, will oversee the team’s training season Monday afternoon, it was learnt.

Levy said, “Jose and his coaching staff have been with us through some of our most challenging times as a club.

“Jose is a true professional who showed enormous resilience during the pandemic.

“On a personal level I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged.

“He will always be welcome here and we should like to thank him and his coaching staff for their contribution.”

Mourinho took charge of the club when they were placed 14th on the league table and managed to finish sixth in his first season, but Spurs were knocked out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage by RB Leipzig.

The team has struggled to find rhythm in the 2020/21 season and currently lies in seventh place on the table, and five points away from the Champions League spot with six matches remaining.

The club crashed out of this season’s Europa League at the last-16 stage following a shocking defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.
