LeBron James Becomes Part-Owner Of the Boston Red Sox

2 Min Read

Basketball icon LeBron James and his business partner Maverick Carter have joined Fenway Sports Group as partners making them part-owners of the Boston Red Sox.

LeBron’s successes on the court are unquestionable, but the 36-year-old is proving himself to be a savvy entrepreneur too.

The four-time NBA champion has worked closely with the Fenway Sports Group before and already has a 2 per cent stake in Premier League giants Liverpool since 2011.

According to reports from the Boston Globe and CBS Sports, LeBron’s stake in the Reds will subsequently increase as a result of this new Red Sox deal too.

While the move may come as a shock to some, LeBron James already has an ownership stake in English soccer team Liverpool Football Club, which is also owned by Fenway Sports Group.

James’ transition from sole involvement with Liverpool to the club’s parent company suggests a deeper relationship has been established between himself and Fenway Sports Group.

RedBird Capital Partners will also reportedly join Fenway Sports Group’s partnership as part of a $750 million investment, making it the third-largest partner, according to The Boston Globe. James and Carter will be the first Black partners in Fenway Sports Group’s history.
