Suspected bandits have kidnapped 70 people, including nursing mothers and children, at Ruwan Tofa village in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to Sahara Reporters, the motorcycle-riding gunmen stormed the village on Wednesday.
Besides the kidnapped persons, the bandits reportedly carted away food items and other valuables belonging to the villagers.
The attack was said to have lasted several hours, with no military presence to deter the assailants.
This came a few days after 279 schoolgirls kidnapped from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe were released.

Also, it occurred a few days after gunmen killed 40 persons and abducted many others at Sabuwar Tunga, a neighbouring village in Maru LGA.
Growing insecurity caused the Federal Government to designate Zamfara a “no-fly zone” on Wednesday.
However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) described the announcement of the no-fly zone as a surreptitious attempt by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to take over the state.
