JUST IN: Abducted Kagara Students, Staff Regain Freedom

The 42 students, staff, and family members abducted from Government Science College (GSC), Kagara in the Rafi local government area of Niger State have regained their freedom.

This followed the state government’s confirmation that some passengers abducted aboard a bus belonging to the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) have been freed.

According to The Nationthe Kagara abductees were at a different location from the passengers.

The Kagara abductees were said to be on their way to Minna, although the passengers arrived at the state capital before them and were waiting to meet Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello.

Meanwhile, the Niger State Government on Sunday evening confirmed the release of the passengers.

Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. Mary Noel-Berje made the confirmation.

No fewer than 18 passengers on the NSTA bus were on February 14 abducted by bandits in Kundu village near Zungeru in the Yakila District of Rafi Local Government Area of the state.

The passengers were said to be heading to Minna from Kotangora when the incident happened.
