The Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has been ordered remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre alongside four others by a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja.
The court gave the remand order on Monday pending the hearing of the formal bail applications of the defendants on Tuesday, January 5.
However, the Magistrate, Taye Maibel, said that all the charges on which the defendants were arraigned were bailable.
She directed counsel to the defendants to bring the bail applications before her court by 11:00 am on Tuesday.
Arrested on New Year’s eve in Abuba while protesting against bad governance, Sowore and the four other defendants were arraigned on three charges of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others.
The prosecution argued that they were calling for forceful overthrown of the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
They denied the charges.
