Arsenal Trump West Brom 4-0

Arsenal trashed West Bromwich Albion 4-0 away, at the Hawthorns, on Saturday, to extend their winning run in the English Premier League.

Goals from Kieran Tierney, Bukayo Saka and an Alexandre Lacazette double ensured the win for the Gunners amid the heavy snowfall that characterized the clash at the Hawthorns.

The win catapults Mikel Arteta’s side to 11th place on the standings and prolongs their winning run to 3 in a row.

West Brom could have opened the scoring early on had Matt Phillips not fired tamely at Bernd Leno from a rare opportunity.

Arsenal responded in style as Tierney moved past Darnell Furlong on the left wing, before beating home goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, with a right-footed curler.

Now in the momentum, the Gunners added a quick-fire double as Smith Rowe played provider, teeing up Nigerian-born English international, Bukayo Saka, for an easy finish.

Chances were hard to come by for West Brom, although they were denied from taking a proper shot on goal by the offside call after Matheus Pereira moved within goal sight.

His shot crashed off the post, but Callum Robinson could not add a followup with the goal at his mercy, owing to the referee’s whistle.

West Brom’s defender, Semi Ajayi, contributed to Arsenal’s success, when he shot against his own post.

The Nigerian did do well to block Smith Rowe’s follow-up only to watch the eagle-eyed Lacazette tap in the rebound.

The goal marks the Frenchman’s fourth in four consecutive matches in all competitions.

The Frenchman scored another four minutes after, responding to Tierney’s drilled cross.

Arsenal have now won three consecutive Premier League games, after winning just two of their last 12 in the league.

West Brom are the first team to lose consecutive home Premier League games by at least four goals in each defeat.

Wigan Athletic were the last to do so, in August 2010.
