Borno Residents Disappear As Boko Haram Attack

Borno residents have abandoned their homes as terrorist group, Boko Haram, attacked four villages in the southern part of state.

Sources within the region confirmed that the attack occurred on Saturday night.

The terrorists, who were first spotted around Mandara Dirau area of the state, at about 1pm, were reported to have driven in no fewer than 9 Toyota Hilux vans.

They were said to have continued on to Debiro, Tashan Alade, Tirgitu, and Shaffa towns, shooting at fleeing residents, looting food items, and torching houses.

The aforementioned villages all fall under the Shaffa and Hawul local government areas of the state.

Fleeing villagers were said to have taking refuge in close by mountains.

The aged and physically challenged villagers were not so fortunate as many were believed to have been caught in the sporadic shootings that took place.

Following the attacks, farmers in distant villages trooped to the local government headquarters of Biu Local Government to store their harvested food in rented shades.

Japhet Kefas, The lawmaker representing Gombi Constituency, in the state House of Assembly, called on the military to quell a second attack the Boko Haram sect were planning on Garkida.

As at time of publication, the amount of casualties were yet unknown.
