Armed Men Abduct Oyo Legislator’s Sister

Armed men, on Monday, abducted Jumoke Oludele, the younger sister to Sunkanmi Babalola, the Deputy Majority Leader in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The abduction occurred around Oniguguri junction, beside Lion of Judah, Iyana Church, Monatan area of Ibadan, the state capital.

The victim, Jumoke, was believed to have been returning from her shop when the gunmen struck.

There are conflicting reports regarding the manner in which she was abducted.

One reports places the victim, Jumoke, on a commercial motorcycle when the suspected gunmen struck, while her brother’s report places Jumoke in her car, driving, when the abduction took place.

An anonymous source close to the victim’s family, indicated that the suspected abductors had reached out to the family.

The source stated that the abductors demanded a ransom of ₦20 million for her release.

The elder brother of the victim stated that the family had reported the incident to the relevant authorities.

He explained that his sister was kidnapped at about 8:20 p.m.

“According to information, three gunmen in a white Toyota Camry abducted her,” the victim’s elder brother said.

I was told that the abductors shot into the air twice and forced her from her car into theirs.

““I have not heard anything, but we are still hoping to get a positive response from them,” he said.

The elder brother also confirmed that the abductors has initiated contact with one of the family members.

They contacted a member of the family,” he said.

The victim’s elder brother was, however, quick to point out that they were yet to reach a resolution with the kidnappers.

“The terms and conditions are yet to be agreed upon,” he lamented.

When reached out to, The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said he was yet to be informed on the abduction.

Fadeyi explained the reason for his ignorance, stating that the police station, where the incident happened had been razed during the #EndSARS protest in the state.
