Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi says Nigeria must learn lessons from the abduction of 344 students of Government Science Secondary School (GSSS), Kankara in Katsina State.

Abducted on Friday, December 11, the students were released on Thursday, December 17.

Obi spoke in a statement he personally signed, which was shared via his verified Twitter handle on Friday.

He expressed elation at the release of the Kankara boys and commended those responsible for making it possible.

However, the 2019 Vice Presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said that lessons must be drawn from the “unfortunate incident” to prevent a recurrence.

One of such lessons, he said, was the need to rejig Nigeria’s security architecture.

“I am elated at the release of the GSSS Kankara schoolboys.

“It is a huge relief not only for their families but also for Nigerians.

“There are lessons to be learnt from this unfortunate incident, and one of them is the compelling need to rejig our security architecture,” Obi said.
