Former President Olusegun Obasanjo today paid a courtesy visit on Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde at the Government House, Ibadan.
Photos of the visit were shared on the Oyo State Government’s social media pages.
Reacting to the visit, Makinde, “We were honoured to receive our former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, who paid us a courtesy visit while attending a book launch in Ibadan.
“I seized the opportunity to tell him about some of the ways we are putting our people first especially in infrastructure development.”
The Herald can report that Obasanjo was in the state to attend a book launch in memory of late Oyo political godfather, Chief Lamidi Adedibu.
He told news reporters shortly after the visit that he was in the Government House for a belated condolence visit to the governor on his mother’s demise.
Obasanjo said that the plethora of challenges confronting Nigeria would only be overcome with true leadership and unity.
“There are many challenges in Nigeria today. There are challenges of security, economy, political stability among others.
“These challenges are not really new, except that they have taken a different dimension.”
“But human challenges are meant to be solved or overcome by human beings which means that all hands should be on deck.
“I believe that the most important aspect of dealing with all the challenges we have is: one leadership, two, coming together, that is, all hands being on deck.
“We all have to come together. But then, there must be leadership to get everybody to work,” Obasanjo said.
