Bournemouth win

B'mouth 1 - 0 Wycombe - Match Report & Highlights

Bournemouth have raced to the top of the English Championship table after edging out an inconsistent Wycombe side 1-0 in an evenly contested match on Tuesday.

Jason Tindall’s outfit took the lead at the Vitality stadium through a 68th minute strike by forward Junior Stanislas.

Bournemouth’s victory moves them beyond Norwich City, level on points, but ahead due to a superior goals difference.

Norwich still have the chance to go above Bournemouth when they lock horns with Reading in the next round of Championship games today (Wednesday).

Bournemouth are now on a four-match unbeaten run, after Tuesday’s victory.

The top of the English Championship features Bournemouth, Norwich and Watford, teams who were all relegated from the English Premier league last season.

Watford, meanwhile, moved to third position after playing out a 1-1 draw with last season play-off contenders, Brentford.

The two sides were both awarded one penalty apiece at Vicarage road.

Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock was shown a red card after a tackle on Ismaila Sarr and Troy Deeney stepped up to convert for Watford for the first goal of the encounter.

The Hornet’s joy was short-lived as Ivan Toney silenced the home crowd three minutes after to score his 16th goal of the current campaign.

In other results, Nottingham Forest defeated bottom side Sheffield Wednesday 2-0, with Tony Pulis still searching for his first 3 points of the season.

Millwall won 2-0 away to Bristol City to end their 10 match winless run.

Barnsley’s recent impressive run continues after edging Preston 2-1 to make it four wins in five games.

QPR came up against former Chelsea midfielder, Mikel Obi’s Stoke City, with both playing a boring 0-0 draw.

Jason Tindall will now hope Norwich will capitulate in today’s game, a result which will keep his Bournemouth safely at the top for another week at least.
