The Kano State Fire Service says it has so far saved 63 lives from fire incidents in the state in December.
Alhaji Saidu Muhammed, the Public Relations’ Officer of the service made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday in Kano.
Muhammed said that six lives were lost to fire incidents during the period, while 30 distress calls, eight false alarm and 39 rescue calls were received by the service.
“The calls were made by victims of collapsed building or fire disasters, sometimes the calls came through individuals who witnessed the incidents,” he said.

Muhammed cautioned residents of the state against the misuse of electrical appliances to prevent fire disasters.
He also warned against storing of petrol at home and shops during harmattan to avert fire outbreaks.
