(Full List): How Nigeria, 53 Other African Nations Performed On Latest FIFA Ranking

2 Min Read

World football governing body, FIFA has published the latest ranking of men’s national football teams.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria dropped three places to 35 in the world having failed to win its two-legged encounter with Sierra Leone in the CAF African Cup of Nations qualifier this month.

However, Africa’s most populous nation maintained its fourth position on the continent, behind Senegal (1st), Tunisia ((2nd) and Algeria (3rd).

Many Super Eagles fans criticised coach Gernot Rohr for the latest dip in the FIFA rankings.

Former Nigeria international, Jonathan Akpoborie said, “I am not too surprised that the Super Eagles dropped in the latest FIFA rankings going by their poor dismal performance against Sierra Leone in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

“The first leg at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium really exposed the tactical know-how of the manager after the team squandered a four-goal lead to draw 4-4.

“How best can you explain his technical knowledge of the game? I really want to blame him for the team’s latest ranking,”
