Black Friday: Hisbah Police’s threat against Cool FM nonsensical – Shehu Sani

Hisbah Police

Senator for Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani has kicked against the Hisbah Police in Kano for warning a radio station, Cool FM against using the term “Black Friday”.

The Islamic outfit had reportedly written a letter to the General Manager of the station stating that the use of the term was offensive to the majority of Kano residents who, being Muslims, consider Friday ‘a holy day’.

The Hisbah Police warned that its corps would be around the station for surveillance purposes with a view to stopping immoral activities at the event as well as maintain peace, harmony and stability in the state.

But in a reaction on Twitter, Sani, who is also a human rights activist, described the threat as “nonsensical”.

He stated that the outfit should instead channel its energy on killings and kidnappings going on in their domain.

Sani, who is also a Muslim, wrote, “Friday is our sacred day of prayer as Muslims. Whatever colour is added to it doesn’t matter.

“Hisbah’s threats against the phrase ’Black Friday’ is nonsensical.

“They should focus on the killings and kidnappings going on in their domains.

“Their services are needed in the battlefield.”
