Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae has accused some Fulani herdsmen of invading his farm and destroying harvested crops valued at millions of naira.

The Ondo State-based politician and agric-businessman stated this on Monday.

He said that the invasion has lasted weeks, noting that efforts to get the police and state chairman of Miyetti Allah, an umbrella body of Fulani herders, to stop it has so far yielded no results.

Falae said that some policemen were deployed to the farm after he filed a complaint and they chased the herdsmen away.

However, he said, the herdsmen returned a day after the policemen left and wreaked havoc on the farm.

According to him, they looted so crops and destroyed the ones they could not cart away.

The elder statesman lamented that the herdsmen also attacked his farmworkers and scared them off before embarking on their sinister efforts.

He alleged that after chasing the farmworkers away with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, the herdsmen ransacked their rooms and stole their valuables.

“In the last few weeks, Fulani herdsmen came into my maize farm twice to eat up and trample large sessions of the farm. I reported the incidents to Alhaji Bello. Chairman Meiyetti Allah for Ondo State, nothing has happened.

“In the last few days, they have gone to attack my citrus farm by stealing harvested oranges and destroying what they could not carry away. The police on security duty on the farm were sent to drive them away. But they have been coming back every night to attack my workers in our camp, breaking their door and carting away all their belongings!

“Please let Amotekun save us and our livelihood. They kidnapped me on 21st September 2015; they should not be allowed to do it again,” he said in a letter addressed to the authorities.
