Trump Campaign Fires Sidney Powell From President’s Legal Team

2 Min Read

Donald Trump’s election campaign seems to have cut ties with Sidney Powell, a key member of his legal team.

Sidney Powell claimed without evidence at a news conference last week that electronic voting systems had switched millions of ballots to President-elect Joe Biden.

Following her unauthorized statement, the Trump campaign released a statement Sunday, denying that attorney Sidney Powell is in any way associated with their legal team.

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team,” the statement from Rudy Giuliani and Jenna Ellis read.

“She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”

Powell had made other dramatic claims without evidence, saying she had a voter fraud case of “biblical” proportions in Georgia.

On Saturday, she told conservative Newsmax TV that “Georgia is probably going to be the first state I’m gonna blow up,” and accused Republican Governor Brian Kemp of conspiring against Trump.

Following her dismissal from the team, Sidney Powell, in a statement, indicated she intends to keep litigating despite her separation from the Trump team.

“I agree with the statement today. I will represent #WeThePeople and seek the Truth,” she said.

“I intend to expose all the fraud and let the chips fall where they may. We will not allow the foundations of this great Republic to be destroyed by abject fraud or our votes for President Trump and other Republicans to be stolen by foreign interests or anyone else.”

The announcement came a day after a federal judge dismissed the campaign’s lawsuit seeking to halt Pennsylvania officials from certifying Biden’s victory in the state, dealing a major blow to Trump’s flailing efforts to overturn his Nov. 3 election loss.
