COVID-19: 8 NYSC Members Test Positive In Bauchi Orientation Camp

8 NYSC members posted to the Wailo Orientation Camp in the Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State have tested positive to Covid-19.

Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Ibrahim Sani revealed that as of November 19, the infection rate has risen in some communities in the state.

He added that a holding room had since been allocated by the state Director of the NYSC for those that are suspected to be positive cases.

Sani said: “On the recent reopening of NYSC camps, a surveillance investigation had revealed that out of 600 reported in the camp, eight corps members were reported to have tested positive to COVID-19 in Wailo camp.

“To further ensure de-escalation, the Executive Chairman has instructed the surveillance team to carry out sample collection and investigation of all corps members undergoing training in the camp and a holding room has since been allocated by the director, NYSC for those that are suspected/positive cases.”

Meanwhile, Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River has described the death of Amaka, the wife of former Senate Majority Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN as a severe blow.

The governor spoke through a statement signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mr Christian Ita, on Saturday in Calabar.

He commiserated with the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on his loss.

Ayade expressed deep sorrow over Amaka’s sudden transition adding that her demise was yet another vicissitude to befall the former Senate Leader in recent times.
