Nigerians will soon know why Umahi left – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that it would reveal why Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi left its fold at the appropriate time.

The party disclosed this in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan.

However, the party said that the reasons were personal.

The party appreciated Umahi for services rendered to the people of Ebonyi.

This, according to Ologbondiyan, includes when Umahi served as the State Chairman of Ebonyi PDP (2003 to 2007); deputy governor of the state (2007 to 2015) and two term governor of Ebonyi (2015 till date), all elected on the platform of the PDP.

Ologbondiyan while wishing Umahi the best in his adventure called on the PDP members to remain calm and committed to the ideals of the party, saying no individual is bigger than the PDP.

The governor on Thursday confirmed his defection from the PDP to the All Progressive Congress (APC), saying he would not regret the decision no matter its outcome.

Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has dissolved the ward, local government and state executive committees of the Ebonyi state chapter of the party with immediate effect.

The NWC has also dissolved the Southeast Zonal Caretaker Committee of the party.

“These decisions are pursuant to the powers conferred on the NWC by the PDP Constitution,” the party said.
