Major news outlets declared Arizona for Biden based on incorrect data – Report

2 Min Read

Many news outlets in the United States may have acted on incorrect data to declare Arizona for Democratic Party presidential candidate, Joe Biden.

The New York Post reported that data from the Edison Research distributed to a consortium of major news outlets showed that 98 percent of ballots had been counted in Arizona when in reality at least 14 percent had yet to be counted.

Some of the major outlets that rely on Edison Research included TV outlets – ABC News, CBS News, CNN and NBC News; news wire Reuters and print outlets such as The Washington Post.

Edison Research later corrected its data to show that at least 14 percent or more votes have yet to be counted in the state.

The Associated Press, which does not use data from Edison Research, stated that 16 percent of votes have yet to be counted.

Trump had won Arizona in 2016 and a loss in the southwestern US state would be a devastating blow to his re-election bid.

Such a loss would put the pressure on the president to win in the Midwest battleground states which appear swung against him with the counting of absentee ballots.
