“If a warehouse is looted on Friday, they’ll say they wanted to share its content on Saturday” – Shehu Sani

Human rights activist, Senator Shehu Sani says state governments have been lying in their reactions to the looting of warehouses storing palliatives in their states.

Sani stated this in a tweet on Sunday.

Recall that hoodlums looted COVID-19 palliatives from a warehouse in Mazamaza community in Lagos on Thursday.

In a reaction, Acting Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos, Abisola Olusanya, said that the state government took delivery of the palliatives on September 22 and had been distributing them until the EndSARS protests forced it to stop the distribution.

Hoodlums also busted and looted a warehouse storing palliatives in Kwara on Friday.

Reacting on Twitter, Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq wrote, “We strongly condemn the attack by hoodlums on the cargo terminal and Agro-Mall Ilorin to steal palliatives that we are already distributing to the victims of the recent flood that impacted communities across Kwara.

“We had earlier flagged off this distribution in September and we have only 1 Local Government to go out of 16 before the palliatives meant for the vulnerable were carted away by the hoodlums.”

The Ibadan home of Senator for Oyo Central, Senator Teslim Folarin was busted on Friday and items for constituency empowerment programmes were looted.

Describing the action as “daylight robbery”, Folarin said that 1,100 items including motorcycles, deep freezers, generators, and grinding machines were carted away.

“I took stock of the materials ahead of a mega empowerment programme scheduled to hold in November 2020,” Folarin said.

Some hoodlums also invaded the home of Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Sanai (SOB) Agunbiade, carting away many valuables.

Agunbiade said that among the valuables were empowerment materials he planned to distribute to 50 widows for his birthday on October 25.

Reacting to the claims in a Sunday tweet, Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the Eight Senate, said, “If a warehouse is attacked on Friday, they will say they wanted to share its content on Saturday; and if attacked on Saturday, they will say they wanted to share its content on Sunday.”
