The Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, says provisions must be made for compensation for the families of victims of police brutality in the last decade in the 2021 Appropriation Act before he would append his signature.

He added that the agreements with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) must also be reflected in the budget to get his approval.

The Senate President and House Speaker customarily sign the Appropriation Bill before it is sent to the President for assent.

However, Gbajabiamila said he would not be doing so this time unless the conditions were met.

He stated this while leading plenary on Tuesday.

The Speaker expressed regets that the EndSARS protests across the country have got more violent and appear to have been hijacked.
