“Goodwill has an expiry date” – Apostle Suleman dissociates self from Benin protest after jail break

Apostle Suleman

Founder of Omega Fire Ministries (OFM), Apostle Johnson Suleman has distanced himself from hoodlums hijacking peaceful protests in Edo State to foment trouble.

Suleman, whose church is based in Auchi, Edo State, stated this in a tweet on Monday after hoodlums in the guise of EndSARS protesters stormed the Maximum Security Prison in Oko, Benin City and freed prisoners.

Videos of the jailbreak circulated on social media, especially Twitter, on Monday morning.

The fiery preacher has staunchly supported the peaceful protest aimed at ending police brutality in the country.

However, he condemned the hijack of the peaceful protests by hoodlums who went ahead to extort individuals and attack institutions.

“I really don’t understand what’s going on in Benin, Edo state-Nigeria. Some youths extorting money from street hawkers, breaking into places etc.

“I hereby disassociate myself from anything or anyone hijacking peaceful protest to cause insurrection. Goodwill has an expiry date.”

He also advised peaceful protesters to leave the streets to avoid attack in light of the jailbreak.

“Please every wise youth in Benin city, Edo state, leave the protest ground.

“Breaking into a prison and set(ting) the prisoners free is a call for anarchy.

“Don’t be part of those who are taking advantage of a good cause.

“You can’t be administering a cure more dangerous than the disease.”

Meanwhile, the Edo State Government has imposed a state-wide curfew following the jailbreak.
