Oyebade

Coordinator of the police team in today’s gubernatorial election in Edo State, DIG Adeleye Oyebade, has vowed to crush anyone caught fomenting trouble during the election, no matter how highly-placed.

Oyebade, who is also the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, disclosed this while expressing readiness of the police to ensure security as the electorate elect a new governor.

He noted that 31,000 policemen had been dispatched to the state to cover the nook and cranny of the state during the polls.

“Let me tell you, we are not going to spare anybody who plans to disturb the peace and tranquility of Edo State before, during and after the governorship election,” Oyebade told Saturday Sun.

“Our men are fully on ground. We have deployed over 31,000 officers and rank and file and they are fully covering all the nooks and crannies of Edo State.

“Whoever plans to foment trouble will regret his action. We are fully determined to ensure safety of people and properties and we will not compromise that. We are fully ready, we are on ground and we are assuring the Edo electorate that they have the freedom and peace to choose whoever they like in today’s election.

“What I am saying is that anybody who intends to disturb the election on Saturday September 19, 2020 in Edo will never go unpunished. He or she will face the full wrath of the law of the land.”

He said that the police hierarchy has provided any motivation to ensure the police perform their duties conscientiously.

According to him, trouble makers would meet their waterloo if they try to compromise the policemen.

He added, “We are not going to take any chance, rather we warn criminals to steer clear of  the  Edo election. Any attempt to snatch ballot boxes and papers will be resisted. Our Air Wing will adequately patrol and ensure peace at the riverine areas before, during and after this governorship election.”
