Pandemonium struck in Osun when the state police command arrested a man identified as Akeem Adebayo for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl at a stream in Ido Osun, Egbedore Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, August 29.
Sources familiar with the case said the victim had gone to wash her clothes at a stream close to her father’s house. The criminal who had knowledge of this, traced her movements to the spot where she carried out her laundry.
According to reports, It was at this point Adebayo, the suspect hit her on the head with a sharp object, leaving her with a head injury. They happened to be alone at the spot with no one in site. The suspect overpowered her and went ahead to rape her.

Fortunately for the girl, respite came her way when her cries for help drew the attention of passersby who came to her rescue.
Right at the scene, heroes who saved the day took hold of the situation and apprehended the suspect before he could escape.
The Good Samaritans however rushed the victim to the hospital to be taken care of.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the state police command, Yemisi Opalola, said the suspect is now in police custody and that investigation into the matter is ongoing.
