Gunmen allegedly Abduct Junior Secondary Students from Kaduna Community

Unknown gunmen have allegedly invaded a community in Kaduna State and abducted Junior Secondary School Students preparing for the certificate examinations.

According to a report by Sahara Reporters, a large number of gunmen invaded Damba-Kasaya community, Chikun Local Government, on motorcycles and trucks, and attacked Prince Academy where they abducted a large number of students.

The armed men had raided houses in the community before raiding the school where the students were preparing for the Junior Secondary School Examinations around 9 am.

The spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, Mohammed Jalihe is yet to confirm or deny the attack.

According to local sources however, some villagers were abducted alongside the students while at least one person was killed by the invading gunmen. A combined team of Nigeria Army and Police personnel are said to be on a manhunt for the attackers and their abductees.

Kaduna state has been embroiled in violence, with mass killings and abductions taken place across communities on a weekly basis. Armed bandits and other criminal elements have been blamed for the attacks with residents protesting against the growing insecurity in the country.

Last week, the Nigerian Army deployed a Special Forces team to help combat the menace of kidnappers and armed bandits in Kaduna State.
