The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Prof. Folasade Ogunsola has emerged the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
She beat Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Ben Oghojafor to the position.
Her emergence followed a vote by members of the University Senate on Monday.
The Herald can report that 167 professors attended the Senate Meeting, from which 135 voted for Ogunsola, 31 voted for Oghojafor and one vote was voided.
The election comes days after the Federal Government directed varsity’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council, Dr. Wale Babalakin, and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, to recuse themselves from official duties, pending the outcome of the Special Visitation Panel set up by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
The Federal Government also directed the university Senate to reconvene to elect an acting VC.

Ogunsola, 62, is a Professor of Medical Microbiology who specialises in disease control, particularly HIV/AIDS.
She is a former Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos.
