Barcelona were whitewashed 8-2 by Bayern-Munich in the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League last night and Football fans around the world have gone ballistic on social media.
Bayern’s fast-paced and unmatchable style of play blitzed through Barcelona’s defense like hot knife in butter as goals that rained from Lewandowski, J.Kimmich, Thomas Muller, Ivan Perisic, S. Gnabry were enough to downsize a sluggish Barcelona team.
Philipe Coutinho, Barcelona loanee at Bayern also registered his name on the scoring sheet by netting two goals against his team, as captain Lionel Messi looked on, but couldn’t help his teammates.
As usual one could have expected player of the year Lionel Messi to score goals and help out his team, but the Argentine looked hapless throughout as he couldn’t even muster a goal.
With this result Bayern Munich now joins Rb Leipzig, PSG, Manchester City and Lyon in the UEFA champions league semi-finals.
Social media users as usual have reacted. See some reactions below:
I feel sorry for De Jong. Kid came to Barça with the dream of playing with Messi, little did he know it was a nightmare playing with the rest.

It was earlier reported that German champions Bayern Munich utterly humiliated Barcelona with a stunning 8-2 victory on Friday that sent them through into the semi-finals of the Champions League in an extraordinarily emphatic manner.
Thomas Mueller scored twice for a rampant Bayern, who led 4-1 after 31 astonishing minutes, as Lionel Messi and his team mates were condemned to a thrashing that felt like the end of an era for the illustrious Catalan club.
Both teams have been crowned European champions five times. But, while Bayern look to have a real chance of added a sixth title next week, Barça are clearly facing major reconstruction work and it remains to be seen how many of those involved in this debacle will survive at the club.
