Insecurity: We politicians are to blame – Zamfara governor

2 Min Read
Matawalle

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, says politicians are to blame for rising insecurity in the country.

He said many unscrupulous politicians were quick to exploit the security challenges to advance their selfish motives.

The governor added that such politicians instead of commending the military for their efforts were always in a rush to condemn the gallant troops.

He warned Nigerians to beware of such politicians as they are only interested in themselves and not the wellbeing of the nation or its citizenry.

The governor spoke Tuesday at the Special Army Super Camp 4 in Faskari town.

Matawalle said, “We, the politicians, are to be blamed for the intractable security challenges bedeviling our communities.

“It is evident that some politicians exploit insecurity for political gains. These unscrupulous politicians would hardly commend the military for their successes at the battlefronts.

“However, they would be eager to rush to the media to report attacks by bandits or other miscreants.

“For these crop of politicians, politics is not about genuine commitment to the wellbeing of the people; it is all about power and nothing more.”

Matawalle maintained that every patriotic Nigeria must see security as a collective effort rather than the job of the president, governor or service chiefs.
