The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has incurred the wrath of netizens after describing the #RevolutionNow protests as an “irritation” and a “distraction”.
The presidential aide spoke as a guest on Sunrise Daily, a popular Channels Television programme on Thursday morning.
He said the action of the protesters, who claim to be demanding better governance, was nothing more than an attempt to cause ” irritation ” in the country.
Adesina said that the protests were unwarranted and capable of heating up the country.

However, many Nigerians took to Twitter to berate the journalist for his stance, saying the right to peaceful protest remained inalienable.

Femi Adesina should remember that there is a life after 2023.He is just ranting as if his whole life depends on 2023.

The #RevolutionNow protest was a distraction & carried out by irritants – Femi Adesina on Channels TV
Nigerians are protesting insecurity, unemployment & corruption & you call them a distraction & irritants?
Was Buhari an irritant when he protested against Jonathan govt?

Femi Adesina also have a very warped definition of "Protest". He described what happened yesterday as an irritation and a child's play. Every big thing starts small! If not, why did the government unleash security agencies against them? @sunrisedailynow @FemAdesina

In as much as the US warning about ISIS penetrating Nigeria is enough to cause panic, nothing is more worrisome than seeing Femi Adesina on Sun Rise Daily this morning talking energetically about RevolutionNow protesters and nothing about insecurity.

People like Femi adesina and oshiomhole have taught me something about the human nature. A man is truly not who he is until he begins to dine with the oppressors in power. Is his ideology as a good man compromised ? Does he stand up and walk away and refused to be part of them
