Fashola inaugurates panel of inquiry to investigate soldiers role in BRT destruction

2 Min Read

Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN) has inaugurated a tribunal of inquiry to look into the incident which occurred on Ikorodu road earlier this month and led to the death of a soldier and destruction of BRT buses.

Speaking at Lagos House, Alausa, on Monday, Governor Fashola said, “The tribunal is to inquire into whether the act was committed by soldiers and if they did not, who did it and also unravel how and why the military officer died. Also, investigate what could have been done to avoid the incident.

“It will also be vital for the tribunal to provide answers into whether other people are behind the crisis. If Nigerians know what really happened, it will help to maintain the reputation of the military as well as cultivate the trust of Nigerians.”

The Governor hailed the military for its outstanding gallantry in conflicts across Africa but lamented the fact that some bad eggs were diminishing its reputation on the home front.

The tribunal is headed by Justice Ebenezer Adebajo, a former Judge of the Lagos High Court, and is expected to complete its investigation and submit its findings in 60 days.

Other members of the tribunal are Mr Nurudeen Ogbara, Mr Jude Igbanoi and Miss Oluwadamilola Kessington.
