Dubai Crown Prince Pays Hospital Bills of Stranded Nigerian Family With Quadruplets

A Nigerian family stranded with quadruplets in Dubai had their hospital bills paid by the Crown Prince after their story was aired on CNN.

Prince Hamdan Bin Mohammed, paid the bills of Tijani and Suliyah Abdulhakeem who had quadruplets at the Latifa Hospital for Women and Children in Dubai on July 1.

The prince directed his office to help the Nigerian couple offset their hospital bills after their plight was aired on television.

According to reports, the couple planned to travel to Nigeria before the birth of the babies but were stranded in Dubai due to coronavirus restrictions on International Flights.

The quadruplets; two boys and two girls were prematurely born and had to be placed on ventilators at the neonatal intensive care unit. Expenses that was not anticipated by the couple. The family thereafter owed $120,000 to the hospital because they did not have medical insurance.

Abdulhakeem expressed his gratitude for the generosity of the crown prince and promised to name one of the children after the hospital and two others after Crown Prince Hamdan Bin Mohammed.

He said; “It’s just a huge favour, and we are still in shock because we didn’t even know how to get the money. I had been sleepless wondering how to pay the bill.”

Abdulhakeem also expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian community in Dubai who assisted with accommodation for the quadruplets.

“We have been getting calls from Portuguese and Brazilian nationals in Dubai. People have been trying to reach us. The Nigerian community has been following us every step of the way,” the elated said further.

Abdulhakeem described the birth of his quadruplets as a miracle and said he hopes for another miracle when his family returns to Nigeria.
