Why Nigerians should beg Tinubu to contest 2023 presidency – Lawmaker

2 Min Read

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Hon. Dipo Olounrinu, says Nigerians should beg National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to contest the 2023 presidency.

He said no other politician in Nigeria possesses the political sagacity and dexterity of the former Lagos State Governor and his rich experience would greatly benefit the nation.

Olounrinu, a former Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, noted that Tinubu has made not only himself but countless other successful politicians and has positively impacted the lives of millions of Nigerians.

He stated that the APC National Leader was therefore in pole position to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari at the end of his second term in office.

The former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) noted that many persons were jealous of Tinubu’s achievement.

“This (Tinubu) is somebody that has pedigree and antecedents.

“So, why the whole argument of people criticising him whether he wants to run or he doesn’t want to run?

“Even if he doesn’t want, we should beg him to, that’s just the truth.

“You need experienced people, people that have experience of life generally, they have seen the other side of life, they have seen the best part of life.

“There should be a yardstick in looking at things,” Olounrinu told Daily Trust.

The APC National Leader has yet to declare interest in the 2023 presidency.

In a recent statement, he said many “have assigned colourful epitaphs to the 2023 death of an alleged political ambition that is not yet even born.”
