Bulama: Meet Aid Worker Executed By Boko Haram 7 Days To Wedding (Photo)

2 Min Read

The nation was thrown into mourning on Wednesday when Boko Haram terrorists released a video of the killing of five aid workers in Borno State.

They were kidnapped in June along Maiduguri-Monguno Road and killed on Wednesday after their abductors failed to get $500,000 they demanded as ransom.

“This is a message to the infidels who are using you to cheat and turn our people into unbelievers,” a male voice said in Hausa as the abducted humanitarian workers were slain.

A presidential statement identified the aid workers as staff of the State Emergency Management Agency, Action Against Hunger, Rich International, and International Rescue Committee.

One of them was Abdulrahman Bulama, a staff of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency.

A security analyst with the Tony Blair Institute, Bulama Bukarti, expressed frustration with the killing of the aid worker.

Bukarti, who has covered Boko Haram activities extensively, wrote on Twitter, “Abdur-Rahman Bulama was one of the aid workers abducted by ISWAP and executed yesterday. He was abducted just (seven) days to his wedding.

“The people being killed every day in Nigeria aren’t just numbers. Each was a human being with dreams and valued their life like you and I do.”

In a Facebook post, a journalist, Junaid Jibril Maiva, recalled his last encounter with Bulama.

He wrote, “We joked, laughed and talked about his marriage. Little did we know that we were not going to see him again.”
