Rotary Club Of Okota Embarks On Tree Planting At Isolo General Hospital

The Rotary Club of Okota, District 9110, Lagos, on Wednesday embarked on planting of trees at Isolo General Hospital in Lagos.

Its President, Gabriel Oguagua,
briefing newsmen after the trees planting, said it was the first project he embarked upon after assumption of office in July.
Oguagua said that the club had come to support the environment in terms of preservation and protection of the soil through trees planting.
He said that tree planting has a lot of benefits, like quality air, preservation of the environment, help in climate change, and so many other things.
The president said that Rotary had created an opportunity to support the environment.
Oguagua said that through tree planting, patients would receive fresh air that would aid their recovery.
Also, Taiwo Akanji, Chairman, Planning Committee, said that greenish environment was very important for climate change.
Akanji said that Rotary Club International supported the idea of tree planting and had keyed into it.
Commenting, Jude Idumogu, member, Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 11,  said that trees serve as wind breaker and also help prevent erosion.
Idimogu, who also was the Chief Planter at the occasion, said that trees give better Oxygen to human beings and serves as shelter.
The lawmaker said that it prevent natural disasters and serves as wind breaker.
He said that planting a tree was like protecting the environment, urging people to desist from indiscriminate felling of trees.
Idimogu said it was the best thing that could be done for humanity.
Also, Dr Godwin Ahabor, the Medical Director, Isolo General Hospital, said that human beings need trees for fresh air.
Ahabor said that trees serve everyone, because they give Oxygen and help to protect the environment and atmosphere.
He said that trees also protect the ground, keep the soil and checkmate erosion/and also solidify the surface and very useful to everyone.
Ahabor said he felt good about tree planting, assuring that the hospital would do all it could to alleviate the sufferings of people.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the trees planting was witnessed by Mrs Titi Okubadejo, Rotary Project Chair; Mr Jide Oderinde, Rotary Secretary; Mr Jelili Ifedi, Rotary Past President; Mrs Pat Mordi, Isolo General Hospital Public Relations Officer, among others.
