The suspended Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has written the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to demand release on bail.
Magu has been in detention in police facilities since he was dragged before a special presidential panel over allegations of corruption levelled against him by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami SAN.
The panel investigating him is headed by retired Justice Ayo Salami.
In a letter dated Friday, July 10 and addressed to the IG through his lawyer, Oluwatosin Ojaomo, the suspended EFCC boss asked to be granted bail on “self recognisance”.
Reacting to the bail request, a former senator, Shehu Sani mocked the suspended EFCC boss.
Sani, who is being prosecuted by the anti-graft commission for extortion and attempting to bribe judges, wondered why Magu was quick to ask for bail when he did not extend the same courtesy to him when he was detained for days by the EFCC over the matter.

Magu has reportedly threatened to go on hunger strike if he is not released on bail.
This is as there are indications Thursday that he may be detained indefinitely until he satisfactorily responds to all allegations levelled against him.
