Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has reacted to claims that he allegedly received N4billion bribe from Ibrahim Magu, suspended Acting Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
There were also unsubstantiated reports that VP Osinbajo allegedly put pressure on Magu to release some of the recovered loot.
This is coming on the heels of Magu’s arrest and subsequent suspension as Acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency over ‘weighty’ allegations against him.
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President has debunked the rumours, describing it as fake news purported to smear the reputation of Vice President Osinbajo.
He said “Inundated by wide circulation of Fake News about VP’s purported involvement in some EFCC recovery billions, please rest assured they’re all LIES: calculated to confuse and concocted to smear Prof. Osinbajo’s image.
“The VP hasn’t and will never be involved in any such shady activities.”
