Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has offered N50 million to anyone who can provide evidence that he profited from a global campaign he spearheaded to secure the release of Dapchi girl, Leah Sharibu.
He made the offer in a Facebook Live interview session with ace broadcast journalist, Ifedayo Olarinde aka Daddy Freeze on Tuesday.
Recall that Sharibu was one of the 110 girls abducted by Boko Haram from a school in Dapchi, Yobe State in Feburary 2018. While most of the girls were later released, Sharibu was held back by her captors for refusing to renounce Christ.
Omokri, who was Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, apparently issued the challenge in reaction to claims by supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that proceeds of the fundraising movement were not remitted to the girl’s family.
While appearing on Channels TV’s Sunday Politics programme, Omokri had compared the government of President Muhammadu Buhari and that of Jonathan in terms of economy, security and anti-corruption fight.
An APC member, Ayo Oyalowo, who was also featured on the show, accused Omokri of pocketing the proceeds of the fundraising campaign.
The US-based pastor however vehemently denied the allegation, and challenged anyone with proof that he diverted the funds to come forward.
He vowed to give such persons N50 million if their claims were established.
Omokri, who is based in the United States, has been raising funds to support the girl’s family. He admitted travelling to 32 countries last year to spur global support for the cause.

The Herald can report that the victim’s father, Nathan Sharibu vindicated the ex-presidential aide, stating that the family received the funds.
