Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has insisted that the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) will be solely responsible for the implementation of the recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians as designed by the Federal Government.

Hon. Lawan said however that the agency must explain the modalities behind its recruitment process during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday.
“Only NDE will implement this programme. The NDE led by the ministry of labour will have to come and explain.
“It will be unfair to say that we in the legislature and executive are not on the same page because of an action by someone in the executive.
“What the National Assembly is insisting on is in national interest.” he said.
This is coming after the House of Representatives asked President Buhari to suspend the programme after an altercation with the Minister of State for Employment and Productivity, Festus Keyamo (SAN).
